My Friend has a '94 GSR with I think a Drag Gen1 kit on it, the motor is completly built, and evertime we try to put the boost up past 10psi it starts detonating at 5000RPM, the car has 2 fuel pumps Holley intake & an inline, Apexi AVC-R, Field Vtec SFC, Check Valves, We've tried everthing, It has stock Injectors, and no Fuel pressure riser, We keep getting beat by a Stock GSR W/ a Greddy KIT, Can't get the boost up, So what's up??Could it be the FMU??

When you said it has no FP riser that right off sounds bad. On stock injectors, 235cc @ 100%, you are going to be strained to get enough fuel in for 10 psi of boost. Back off to 6 psi if you can change your spring out or if you have a electronic boost controller. Get a fuel pressure gauge to see where your fuel pressures are at. At 10 Psi on a intercooled setup you should be making around 280 WHP so with that said you are going to need around 110 psi of fuel pressure to even come close to supplying enough fuel for your power demands. The reason you are detonating is because your cylinder temps are way to high because you are running way lean. Hope you find the answers you are looking for.

Thanks, I think it needs a lot more fuel, it does have an FMU, but not a FPR, We'll get a Fuel Pressure gauge and FPR on this weekend and go from there.

What is the timing set at? You probably need to retard the timing a little.

Why are you trying to run over 10 psi on stock injectors? You need to get larger injectors.

Whaaaat? No boost dependent FMU and on stock injectors?
You need something to push a lot more fuel as boost rises...more than the fields can handle.

Your stock fpr is straining it. Paxton or S/X FPR would be nice.

i had the same problem and so did a friend of mine.as soon as we put in a in-tank pump and got rid of the in-line pump that comes with the kit,it went away.also,i think if you want more boost, you will need larger injectors.do not use a fuel pressure riser,it will dump too much fuel when you come on boost.get a good regulator like a sx or vortec and use larger injectors.
